Fortnightly update 22: 28.09.2020 to 11.10.2020
In this blog series, I share my fortnight-to-fortnight triumphs (and failures) as a writer. Despite all the ups and downs, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’m currently submitting flash fiction to online magazines and such for publication. This fortnight, I submitted a few pieces and I also entered two competitions. I’m pretty happy with that, but I can’t really share any of it here, as that counts as publication, technically. I can share a couple of stories I wrote and decided not to submit. Here they are; enjoy:
I write scripts for the popular World War II YouTube channel The Front. Three videos for which I wrote the scripts were uploaded this fortnight.
Always the insects chitter in my ear. The specialist says it’s tinnitus, but we who hear them know better. We are their chosen few, destined to surrogate the fetid larvae of the Deathless Queen, and I, for one, can think of no climax more pleasurable than that.
I am not like the other corpses in this cemetery. Bullets tore through my heart and brain and finished them both, but they passed right through my soul, and here in the earth I stir for all time. I wish only that my wife had hired someone to do the job properly.
#blood / #mayhem
When I started to paint with my own blood I thought there could be no darker, sweeter pleasure. But oh how I was wrong, deliciously so. I pray only that in the mayhem of my victims’ final, convulsing thoughts that a part of them appreciates it as I do.
In other news, I’ve picked up a little extra work with Frontier Media, the company I work for which owns The Front, so that’s exciting. We’re looking to expand and create yet another channel, which will be epic, and I’m also making Facebook and Instagram posts every day now, which is exhausting for some reason. I really don’t know how “influencers” keep a straight face. Kale, probably. Other than that, this was a busy yet straightforward fortnight. A bit of a grind, really, but that’s part of it.
